Joaquin Rodrigo celebrated at CIPCE
New to the WFIMC in 2022, the International Piano Competition of Spanish Composers (CIPCE) of Las Rozas de Madrid recently held its 22nd edition. This year’s contest was dedicated to Spanish Composer Joaquin Rodrigo.
Spanish pianist Eugenia Sánchez Durán, 18 years old, won First Prize, becoming the first Spanish winner in the history of the competition. The award, sponsored by the Las Rozas City Council, entails a cash prize of 8,000 euros and an International Concert Tour organized by the Directorate of the International Piano Competition, through Concerts & Manager, valued at 4,000 euros.
Lawrence Golan and the Madrid International Virtuosos Orchestra accompanied the finalists. The Second Kawai-Polimúsica Prize, worth 4,000 euros, went to Artem Kuznetsov, 31 years old and a Russian national. The Third Prize, Fundación Ciudad de Requena, endowed with 2,000 euros, went to Dimitry Sin, 27 years old and also from Russia. The Award for Best Spanish Music Interpreter, sponsored by the Las Rozas City Council and endowed with 1,000 euros, went to Marta Tejero Fernández, another 18-year-old Spanish pianist.
The International Jury, chaired by Leonel Morales and made up of 10 personalities from the world of music, highlighted the extraordinary quality of the contestants and their high musical level.
