From February 8 to 15, Graz played host to the international Franz Schubert and Modern Music Competition, much to the delight of its great audience

After days of breathtaking performances, inspiring workshops, and unforgettable moments, the artists, jury members and audience gathered for the finals of  the Franz Schubert and Modern Music Competition 2025. This year, the Competition focused on Piano Trio, Voice Duo and Piano Duo. 

Special Prizes were also awarded: The Piano Trio musicians had the chance to play the winner pieces of last years Composition Competition by Sergi Puig and Xiaowen Lei. As for the Piano Duo category, the ensembles had the opportunity to win a special Prize for best interpretation of a work by a woman composer. 

The finalists of the Lied Duo on the other hand, faced the challenge to prepare, without an external help and in a 36 hours time, a Lied by Annette Schlünz, especially composed for this competition.
