Wind Players shine on Korea’s Windy Island

The Jeju international Brass Competition in South Korea celebrates its 2024 Edition with a huge festival

193 young artists participated in the 2024 Jeju Intl. Brass Competition, on this popular South Korean island famous for its natural beauty. The competition is actually part of a larger festival- the Jeju Intl. Wind Ensemble Festival, which brought together a total of no less than 4,009 amateur and professional wind musicians this year.

Sangcheol Lee, chairman of the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival, expressed his sincere appreciation to all the young wind musicians who have worked hard to participate. He also hopes that the people of Jeju will continue to show their interest and support in the coming years.

Held since 2000, the Brass Competition features bass trombone, tuba, euphonium and percussion in even years; odd years competitions present trumpet, horn, tenor trombone and brass Quintet.
With four categories each year, the competition is truly unique and has become a singularly famous place for brass players from around the world.
This year, Adam Frey, the first prize winner of the inaugural Jeju in International Brass Competition in 2000, served as head of jury.
