Caleb Borick wins the 2023 International Telekom Competition in Bonn

A student of Joseph Rackers at Eastman School of Music, Caleb Borick of Charleston, South Carolina, is the winner of the 2023 International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn (ITBCM).

With his interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven's third Piano Concerto, accompanied by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under Dirk Kaftan, Borick was able to beat second-placed Lovre Marušić and third-placed Zhouhui Shen in the final. All finalists can look forward to prize money of €50,000 (1st place), €25,000 (2nd place) and €10,000 (3rd place) as well as concert engagements, including at the Beethovenfest Bonn.

Borick also wins over the Bonn audience

"The people of Bonn have a good nose for winners," said jury president Pavel Gililov as he introduced the presentation of the audience award on Saturday evening. The concert guests on site and in the stream were able to vote for their favorite. Caleb Borick came out on top here too, and Gililov then presented him with the audience award as well as the jury prize.
