Graz - International Competition "Franz Schubert and Modern Music"
The 11th International Chamber Music Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” will take place from February 5-14, 2022 in the two competition categories LIED DUO & PIANO TRIO.
We are seeking creative and curious musical personalities, full of fantasy, who make music at the highest level and reach, touch and delight their audiences with their performances of chamber music.
Musicians from all nations and stateless persons born after February 15, 1985 are eligible to participate. Application will be open from April 1 until October 12, 2021.

FS&MM is not a competition like any other. Bringing Schubert’s chamber music into relation with both new and the latest works can be a challenging as well as rewarding experience for all participants and reveals the many facets of a professional & versatile musician.
With attached international composition competitions, the expansion of the chamber music repertoire gets actively promoted. Of the many composition that were submitted from all over the world, two composition of each category were chosen as compulsory pieces to become part of the individual repertoire of each ensemble participating in the FS&MM competition 2022.
Extra challenge in the category Lied Duo: Composer Judith Weir composed a commissioned work for the competition. The finalists will (premier) perform the piece after having only 36 hours of study time for it.
