Daegu International Vocal Music Competition
Daegu International Vocal Music Competition, founded as “National Vocal Competition” in 1983, has served the city of Daegu to settle as the Central City of Culture and Art in the past 42 years, along with its conducive role for the city’s 2017 designation as UNESCO City of Music.
Over 300 young vocalists hand-picked at this competition for 42 years have won prizes at renowned international contests and actively performed on stages worldwide; many have been starred in opera theaters and become professional vocalists as well as members on college faculty.
Winners are award a total of \67 million, including \20 million for the first place. Every contestant who advances to the finals will be awarded a certificate and prize money. Winners are also given opportunities to perform on stage with the Daegu International Music Festival and make their debut at the Daegu Opera House.
The preliminaries for the competition will be divided into two, one in Europe and the other in Asia. The final winner will be selected through the first and the second preliminaries, followed by the finals.
Each contestant will be given an accompanist, contestants on the finals will be offered airfare and lodging, and spaces for practice will be assigned during the finals.
