South Korean composer Shin Kim gained international recognition by winning multiple prestigious competitions, including the Concours de Genève, the George Enescu International Competition, and the Joongang Music Concours. Also, he has been awarded the Young Musicians Award of the Korean Music Award 2022 and was appointed as the Paan Composer by the Korean Composers Association in 2019. His compositions have been performed in various international music festivals, such as Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Wien Modern Festival, IRCAM ManiFeste, ISCM World New Music Days, ARKO Contemporary Orchestra Music Festival, and KOCOA Music Festival by numerous musical groups and individuals, including the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Île-de-France, National Radio Orchestra of Romania, National Chorus of Korea, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, and Riot Ensemble. He graduated from the School of Music of the Korea National University of Arts, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with the highest mark, and completed an exchange study programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Then he earned a Master of Music degree with distinction and a diploma(DipRAM) at the Royal Academy of Music, where he is now pursuing a doctorate under the supervision of Hans Abrahamsen, Rubens Askenar, and David Gorton. He is currently a member of ISCM Korea, Contemporary Music Society in Seoul(CMSS), and ACL Korea, and a composer-in-residence of Ensemble SONOR XXI.
