Rei Harada was born in Kanagawa, Japan in 2005. He began studying piano at the age of four with Kyoko Ishii. After that he is now studying with Prf. Hiroe Arai at Toho Gakuen Music High School in Tokyo.
He has won prizes numerous piano competitions, including 1st prize at the "Robert Schumann" International Competition in 2024, 1st prize in the Ettlingen International Competition in Germa(2022), 1st prize in Ishikawa International Piano Competition in Japan(2022), the gold medal in the Asian International Chopin Piano Competition(2021), Grand Prix in the International Moscow Music Competition(2020), 1st prize in the International Piano Competition‘‘La Note Céleste‘‘ in France(2021), the gold medal the PTNA Piano Competition in Japan (2016/2021) and 1st prize in the Student Music Competition of Japan (2020).
He has worked with such ensembles as the Toho Gakuen School of Music orchestra and Bechstein Cammer orchestra. He has given several recitals in Japan and Germany.
He won the Arion Music Encouragement Award (2021) and Ishikawa Music Award(2022)He has also received scholarship from Toho Gakuen College of Music since 2019 and Yasuko Fukuda scholarship since 2021.
