Leonie began her musical career with the recorder at the age of four. In 2002 she switched to the flute and received professional and committed lessons at the youth music school from Manfred Maier. Nine months later she took part in the "Jugend musiziert" competition for the first time, where she repeatedly won first prizes as a soloist or in various ensembles, as well as in the competition of the German Music Artists' Association and numerous other competitions. She was supported by Prof. Gunhild Ott, her teachers were Gudrun Hinze, Natalie Schwaabe and Joseph Singer in piccolo flute and in orchestral studies Prof. Philippe Boucly. Leonie Bumüller has been studying flute with Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht at the University of Music and Theater in Munich since autumn 2013.
Leonie Bumüller already has a lot of professional experience to show. Even before completing her bachelor's degree, she became an academist at Barenboim's Staatskapelle in Berlin. Since 2017, she has been a permanent member of the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and also helps out with other renowned orchestras - such as the Staatskapelle Weimar or the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin.
She won first prizes in 2012 at the international Peter Aab Music Competition of the Lions Club in Amboise/France and in 2015 at the 4th International Flute Competition "Severino Gazzelloni" in Italy, where the jury also awarded her the Ernesto Köhler Prize.
