The South Korean violist Kyungsik Shin, born in 1998, is a student of Hartmut Rohde at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he has been studying for his Master's degree since 2020. Previously, he studied at Seoul National University in the class of Eunsik Choi from 2016 to 2019.

He received further musical impulses at the Seiji Ozawa Chamber Music Academy, where he was taught by Yoshiko Kawamoto and Sadao, and at the Tianjin Juilliard School Chamber Music Academy by the renowned Juilliard String Quartet. He has also attended master classes with Tabea Zimmermann and Heiichiro Oyama and Catherine Lee, among others.

Kyungsik Shin's recent competition successes include first prize at the 28th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach 2021 and first prize at the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) Competition 2020 in the string category.
