Julian Emanuel Becker

Julian Emanuel Becker was born in Hanover in 2005 and was admitted into the preliminary class of the Institute for the Early Promotion of the Musically Gifted (IFF) at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH) at the age of seven.

As an organist, pianist and chamber musician, he was awarded numerous first prizes for organ and piano as well as special prizes for contemporary music and organ improvisation at a young age at the German national competition "Jugend musiziert".

In 2019 he won the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition (NIIOC) and in 2020 1st prize at the Grotrian-Steinweg Piano Competition. He is also a multiple national prizewinner in the "Jugend komponiert" competition. In 2023 he became the youngest prizewinner of the St Albans International Organ Competition (UK) and in 2024 he won the International Organ Competition for the Bach-Prize of the City of Wiesbaden.

As a young student Julian Becker was taught by Ulfert Smidt (organ) and Elena Levit (piano) at the IFF at HMTM Hannover. Since 2023 he has been studying for a Bachelor's degree at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig with Martin Schmeding (organ), Thomas Lennartz (organ improvisation) and Jacques Ammon (piano). He was taught composition by Marcus Aydintan at the IFF. He also received further inspiration from masterclasses with Igor Levit, Daniel Roth, Bine Bryndorf and others.
