More information

The pianist Dominic Chamot was born in Cologne in 1995. He has won over thirty competition prizes so far, making him one of the most successful pianists of his generation. His most recent achievements include winning the first prize and the audience prize at the Viotti competition 2023.

Chamot began his career as a "rising talent" in his youth, being accepted into the class of Prof. Sheila Arnold at the Pre-College-Cologne of the HfMT Cologne at the age of only 12, which provided him with decisive musical impulses. Soon after, he won international prizes in Berlin, Zwickau, Enschede, Weimar, and Cologne, among others, and performed in venues such as the Berlin and Cologne Philharmonie, the Vienna Musikverein, the Laeisz-Halle Hamburg, and others.

Chamot decided to take a break from the concert scene to study under the renowned pedagogue Claudio Martinez-Mehner in Basel and refine his playing. He completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Specialised Performance - Soloist with the highest grade and distinction, and completed his pedagogy degree with Zoltan Fejervari in 2023, winning the prize for the best recital of the year at the prestigious Musik-Akademie Basel.

During this time, his reputation as a versatile artist grew, leading to ever-increasing engagements in various fields. He played multiple times in the Berlin Philharmonie in 2018, won some of Switzerland's most exclusive scholarships, and was invited by the WDR Symphony Orchestra to perform as a soloist at the Cologne Philharmonie. Following these successes, he received further invitations from orchestras throughout Germany. He also regularly participates in chamber music festivals, worked as a répétiteur for the Theater Basel during his studies, and also served as a musician-actor in two productions there.
